2 days of travel

Day 1 - started our trek west to CO on Friday afternoon with the Expedition packed for Skiing. The new Ski Rack did not make it in time, so packed our new skis carefully and had plenty of room.  Brought the trailer hitch for the trip back as we may have passengers and more gear.

On the way a quick stop in Manhattan to get the iPad Janie left the previous weekend from Cheryl.  Thank you Cheryl for meeting us on the highway.

After Salina we headed up so Janie could pass through Tescott and pay respect at the cemetery.  From there a slow trek across to Sylvan Grove to meet Janet and Damon for dinner.  Janet's BD is coming up in a couple of weeks, so good opportunity to celebrate.  We ate at the Fly Boys.  Prime Rib night, which was really good including the Brussel Sprouts prepared in a way we've not seen before.  Almost sweet vinegar like sauce.

From Sylvan a 1 plus drive to Hayes, KS for a nights stay at the Hampton Inn.  Could have driven further, and almost did when during check in Janie realized she had not made a reservation.  Both of us crashed way to early, so it was easy to be up and on the road by 7 a.m.

Day 2 - headed west again and made a few stops along the way including REI in Denver.  We were able to find the Ski Rack and pick up.  This will be all ready to go for the March trip being finalized.  We did a simple Wendy's lunch on the way out of Denver and then the trek up the mountain.  Stopping at Walmart in Frisco, picked up a few supplies for the room.

Then a quick 20 mins to Breckenridge and check-in.  Unloaded and settled into our Hyatt Suite that is off Main Street and is a short walk over to the Silverthorne Lift.  After getting settled we found the ski shop by the hotel where we have a complimentary locker and ski/boot valet service.  The walk to the lift is more than our Valdora setup, but still better than walking into Vail or Keystone from the parking lot.  We are getting more focused on making it easy!!!

We are right across from the Breckenridge Brewery on the south end of main.  Just a few blocks north and we ended up at the Ski Town Chicken Joint.  This is the same place we celebrated the Chiefs with Bill Carlsen a few years ago.  Covid shut down the original bar, but the set up is the same and the Fried Chicken out of this world.  Highly recommend.

The walk back up the hill first day at altitude with a full belly got us both a little winded.  Back at the room we realized it was only 6:30 p.m.  We pushed to stay up till 10 a.m. so we did not wake up at 3 a.m.
