Wednesday February 9th

Heavy work morning, but hit the slopes by 10:45.  Nice leisure day of skiing with a 10 mile station stop for lunch and business calls / emails.  Finished the day with Peak 9 runs and the winds really picked up.  The day ended around 3:00 and by 3:45 connected w/ Uncle David who just got back from renting his skis.  Tomorrow Drake and Logan fly in and Sarah had to bail due to back ache and work.  We invited Glen Abrams, but that doesn't look like it will work out this trip. Dinner w/ Dave and Donna in Silverthorne and then back to the hotel with our new guest Uncle David.  Margaritas were strong and tasty.  BBQ, Bans, Coleslaw and Corn Bread all filled our bellies.

Tuesday - February 8th

This morning was slow and mostly work mode for Jeff.  After breakfast we made it to the slopes.  Another blue ski and sunny day.  Today Janie was not up to full on skiing.  After a few runs stopped at 10 Mile Station.  Jeff got in a few more runs, then conference call and lunch.  Afternoon runs until 2:30, then back to room for conference calls and catch up on work.  LLA Board Meeting for Jeff via Zoom, then to Luigi's for Pizza Dinner (late for us). Pepperoni, Sausage, Olives, Onions and Green Peppers at $3 per topping extra.  Yummy with the Lager Jeff had to wash it down. Tomorrow David Clemow arrives mid-day and the rest of the gang on Thursday.

Monday - Feb 7th

Good night sleep for all and a beautiful start to the day with a sunrise and clear skies.  Today is a work - play day for Jeff.  Janie made pancakes and sausage for a fueled start of the day.  Some work emails and calls, then off to the slopes with lunch and snacks in the camelback. It was 11:05 when we finally got on the lift.  Long line at the bottom, too be expected.  We saw Beaver lines open, so skied down and went to the top.  Then down to the cross over to Peak 8.  Took the high ridge line to Peak 7 and skied down.  Once up the lift and down.  Janie wasn't feeling it yet. A break for water and Ibuprofen and mountain sun mixed with fresh air.  After a break the trek up to Peak 7 was made.  We found the runs under the new Freedom Lift that drops just above the Peak 7 chair by the lodge.  We made a lot of great runs and the lift lines were zero.  The lift quick and really a good time. We stopped at the top for our...

February 6th

Sunday started with clouds and light snow that was a surprise.  More on the mountain (about 2") and being cold made for a chilly morning.  Made up a couple of tortilla ham sandwiches for lunch (added black olives and roasted red peppers, yum). Like most ski trips the first day is a little rugged getting the routine of putting on all the winter clothes down.  We have a short walk though a underground hallway to the Ski shop, found our locker and proceeded to get ready.  The walk over to the lift was a little slick and Jeff took a tumble.  No injuries other than ego. A lift ride up and by 9:00 a.m. on the mountain skiing.  Made it down to Beaver and skied that lift several times.  The top was all foggy, so hard to see the terrain at first.  Then hit Mercury and down to the Ten Mile station for our first break. Reservations still required for the lodge, but the bar was first come first serve if you had a vax card.  Thank goodness we both had a p...

2 days of travel

Day 1 - started our trek west to CO on Friday afternoon with the Expedition packed for Skiing. The new Ski Rack did not make it in time, so packed our new skis carefully and had plenty of room.  Brought the trailer hitch for the trip back as we may have passengers and more gear. On the way a quick stop in Manhattan to get the iPad Janie left the previous weekend from Cheryl.  Thank you Cheryl for meeting us on the highway. After Salina we headed up so Janie could pass through Tescott and pay respect at the cemetery.  From there a slow trek across to Sylvan Grove to meet Janet and Damon for dinner.  Janet's BD is coming up in a couple of weeks, so good opportunity to celebrate.  We ate at the Fly Boys.  Prime Rib night, which was really good including the Brussel Sprouts prepared in a way we've not seen before.  Almost sweet vinegar like sauce. From Sylvan a 1 plus drive to Hayes, KS for a nights stay at the Hampton Inn.  Could have driven further,...
