Monday - Feb 7th
Good night sleep for all and a beautiful start to the day with a sunrise and clear skies. Today is a work - play day for Jeff. Janie made pancakes and sausage for a fueled start of the day. Some work emails and calls, then off to the slopes with lunch and snacks in the camelback.
It was 11:05 when we finally got on the lift. Long line at the bottom, too be expected. We saw Beaver lines open, so skied down and went to the top. Then down to the cross over to Peak 8. Took the high ridge line to Peak 7 and skied down. Once up the lift and down. Janie wasn't feeling it yet.
A break for water and Ibuprofen and mountain sun mixed with fresh air. After a break the trek up to Peak 7 was made. We found the runs under the new Freedom Lift that drops just above the Peak 7 chair by the lodge. We made a lot of great runs and the lift lines were zero. The lift quick and really a good time.
We stopped at the top for our wraps and sat with a 75 year old gentleman from NE London, England area. He bought a studio for $76k 30 years ago and comes for 3 weeks in the winter and again in the summer. Loved his line that Americans think a 100 years is a long time and the Brits think a 100 miles is too far. :)
Another great rest and off the slopes. We planned one run and then to start back. Well several runs later we finally started the trek back. Its now 4 p.m.. What Janie and Jeff still skiing at 4.
On the 4'Oclock run just before the slow spot Janie takes a major wipe out. Thank goodness no injuries, but did take the wind out of her. She made the final runs to the bottom for the end of day 2 of skiing.
Back to the Hotel room and hanging out with our books, shows and leftovers. Yummy pasta and fried chicken.
