February 6th

Sunday started with clouds and light snow that was a surprise.  More on the mountain (about 2") and being cold made for a chilly morning.  Made up a couple of tortilla ham sandwiches for lunch (added black olives and roasted red peppers, yum).

Like most ski trips the first day is a little rugged getting the routine of putting on all the winter clothes down.  We have a short walk though a underground hallway to the Ski shop, found our locker and proceeded to get ready.  The walk over to the lift was a little slick and Jeff took a tumble.  No injuries other than ego.

A lift ride up and by 9:00 a.m. on the mountain skiing.  Made it down to Beaver and skied that lift several times.  The top was all foggy, so hard to see the terrain at first.  Then hit Mercury and down to the Ten Mile station for our first break.

Reservations still required for the lodge, but the bar was first come first serve if you had a vax card.  Thank goodness we both had a pic on our phones.  They didn't really check it closely.  What a joke.

Water and an Irish Coffee for Jeff.  Ended up with almost two as Jeff spilled the first one and got the second free.

Back to the slopes for several runs off Mercury, then back to Ten Mile for lunch break.  Sat outside because the sun was out.  Sat in the new snow chairs!!

After that another run and being 2:00 decided to pack it in for the day.  Still plenty of energy for the walk back to the ski shop, which was nice.

Dinner at Sauce on the Maggie to celebrate Jeff's 62 birthday.  Thanks to everyone who called, texted, etc.

Another early night night - typical for CO skiing.  Tomorrow another day of getting acclimated and prepped for the kids and uncle David coming out at the end of the week.
